The Birdhouse Tree Hotel is about the challenge of climbing and building where there is always the risk of a fall. It is about escape and return. Escape from the pressures of modern life and a return to a different way of living, a simpler one, where the dependency of living is as plain as watching a tree stand in a forest. 

My tree hotel plays with the occupants sense of privacy and connection to nature, the idea of luxury, and sustainability. Like a birdhouse, it is lifted up while leaving the forest untouched. The structurally insulated panel construction alludes to how modern humans can relate to nature in a new way, how we can use high tech materials and products to explore remote places in harsh climates. This tree hotel provides for two people to stay comfortably. It includes a lofted double bed, a kitchen, a small bathroom below, and a living room. The user can access the cabin by a rope connected to the base of the tree hotel. Here the user feels enclosed, protected and yet at every turn they experience a new version of the forest and are reminded why they have traveled so far.
